Position: Part-time SilverSneakers Instructor: Cardiofit, Classic & Circuit. Reports to: Fitness Coordinator

Position Summary:  Under the direction of the Fitness Coordinator, and consistent with the mission of the Y, the Silver Sneakers Instructor instructs quality group fitness classes, engages with members and helps them on their fitness journey, and provides excellent customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality group fitness classes, as directed by the Wellness or Membership Director, which teaches in a safe and effective class environment that promotes total fitness development for members.

  • Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. (Relationship Builder)

  • Make yourself available to all members regardless of age, gender, race, socioeconomic status, or fitness level. Share your knowledge and be a resource for sound health and fitness information.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core of the  YMCA is conveyed at all times.

  • Maintain working knowledge of the fitness industry and Y trends to provide effective information and training to members.

  • Keep accurate class attendance records.

  • Be able to respond and follow Y policies and procedures in emergency situations.  Ensure all injuries or incidents have been reported on an Injury Report Form.

  • Take responsibility to keep studio/exercise classroom and equipment neat and clean.

  • Maintain good attendance. Give supervisor at least two week notice of schedule changes.

  • Assume total responsibility for obtaining qualified substitutes when needed and inform supervisor.

  • Allow ten minutes to prepare for class and allow for five minutes after class to be available for members.

  • Arrive for assigned class well-groomed and in proper uniform.

  • Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory.

  • Products or services that are not a part of the YMCA program(s) shall not be promoted or endorsed by an employee to any member or guest whether the employee is “on the clock” or not.

Education and Experience:

  • Possess and maintain current CPR certifications and Association Pre-Practicum approved.

  • National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.

  • Silver Sneakers Certification

  • At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.  Being able to work with a diverse population of clients.

  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  • Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to fitness.  Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position and class being taught including, but not limited to:  walking, standing, bending, jumping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time.

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a Part-Time Position that will provide
individual & small group personal fitness training & diet consultation. Teach individuals proper use of equipment including free weights, cardio, and strength equipment. Must be physically fit and certified as a personal trainer by an accredited personal trainer/fitness program. Promote the goals and objectives of the YMCA and any additional requirements to ensure the success of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Summary:  The applicant is expected to maintain and protect the safety and well-being of each patron using the Link Aquatic Center facilities.  The applicant will work directly with participants providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance.  Lifeguards work under the direct supervision of the Pool Supervisor and Aquatic Director.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain an American Red Cross lifeguarding & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certificate

  • May perform duties related to opening or closing the Link Aquatic Center
  • Responds to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes accident and incident reports as required

  • Prevents accidents through enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the waterpark and surrounding areas; remain calm in emergency situations, analyzes and corrects facility hazards and learns to adhere to the facility emergency procedures

Position Summary

  • Responsible for operating the top of the water slides.
  • Enforce water slide rules to ensure the safety of patrons.

Position Summary:  applicant is responsible for leading swim lessons and/or assisting water safety instructors in planning, organizing, implementing effectively teaching the American Red Cross Learn to Swim, preschool aquatics and infant aquatics program for the year round swim lesson program at the Link Aquatic Center.  Applicant works under the direct supervision of the water safety instructors, pool supervisor and aquatic director

  • Accountable for or assisting with class report cards, class attendance and skill progression
  • Have the ability to request assistance in teaching and program content from the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with others, use good judgment, take responsibility, diplomatically respond and handle problems, be an effective leader and role model
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with staff, parents and participants both orally and written

POSITION: COACH & VOLUNTEERS

We are in need of Rock Steady Coaches. We also need Volunteers to assist the Coaches. A Coach should have a background in fitness. They will be required to go through in-person or virtual training for this position. Volunteers are not required to complete any formal training.

RSB is a program that enables people with Parkinson’s disease to fight their disease by providing non-contact boxing – style fitness programs that improve their quality of life and sense of efficacy and self worth. Recent studies also suggest that intense exercise programs may be “neuro-protective,” actually working to delay the progression of symptoms.

RSB provides encouragement through a “tough love” approach, inspiring maximum effort, speed, strength, balance, and flexibility. Boxing works by moving your body in all range of motion while continuously changing the routine as you progress through the workout. RSB classes have proven that anyone at any level of Parkinson’s, can actually lessen their symptoms and lead a healthier/happier life.

Position Summary:  Under the direct supervision of the Membership Coordinator in harmony with Christian values of this Association and in accordance with the policies of the Association, the Member Services Representative will be directly responsible for providing the highest quality service to members and the community.

Job Requirements:  The Member Services Representative must demonstrate a personal commitment to the mission of the YMCA.  This position requires a person who must demonstrate an ability to work effectively with people and be a team member.  This position requires good organizational skills, strong human relation skills, general knowledge of business procedures, good communication skills both verbal and written, willingness to adapt to change and knowledge about YMCA operational procedures and programs.  This person must have a working knowledge of operation computers, must be dressed in uniform, friendly and exhibit good health habits.  The ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationship with staff, volunteers, members and community is essential.

Position Summary:  Under the direct supervision of the Programs Director, the Sports Staff will instruct and supervise youth, adults and seniors in a variety of programs, camps and events related to sports, recreation, fitness and more. The Sports Staff will help to provide a positive, safe, educational and fun environment for all participants and will positively communicate information on YMCA programs, camps and events.

Essential Functions:

  1. Coach and instruct participants on how to effectively complete programs, camps or events in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
  2. Assist with preparation of program, camp or event plans including set-up, tear-down, drills, games, etc.
  3. At times, directly supervise or oversee programs, camps or events.
  4. Provide assistance to direct supervisor as needed and fill-in for the direct supervisor when necessary.
  5. Maintain positive and effective relationships with members, participants, parents and other staff of the YMCA.
  6. Encourage member and parent involvement where applicable.
  7. Convey information about YMCA programs and events to the public.
  8. Participates in staff meetings, trainings, events and reviews as required.

  • Perform multiple cleaning tasks to insure effective housekeeping of the facility as assigned and ensure member satisfaction
  • Perform routine housekeeping as per daily and weekly schedules
  • Mix chemical solutions according to manufacturer’s formula. Follow manufacturer’s directions for use of product
  • Ensure all safety and risk procedures are followed
  • Report unusual conditions to supervisor
  • Ensure proper supply levels of toilet tissue, paper towels, soap and any other services provided
  • Report items needing repair to supervisor
  • Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature such as deep cleaning of showers or toilet areas

Position Summary:  This person is responsible for the safety of all members, guests and staff in the YMCA facility.  The building supervisor is an ambassador for the YMCA and should ensure high standards of customer service.

Job Requirements:  18 years or older, CPR & First Aid certified, good communication skills, ability to supervise, mature enough to handle a variety of issues that may arise in the facility.

  • Ensure that members, guest and staff follow the Y’s code of conduct.
  • Refrain from using cell phones while working.
  • Respond to all emergency situations as per the Y’s Safety and Protocol, follow crisis management plan.
  • Fill out incident/accident reports and put in COO or CEO’s mail box.
  • Give facility tours to prospective members.
  • Walk around the entire facility many times throughout a shift, checking all rooms/areas of building.
  • Police litter and perform maintenance.
  • Open/close facility as per established hours, make sure the facility is picked up and empty once secure at closing time. Walk out with staff at closing.
  • Help out with general cleaning and towels.
